CO/PO attainment, computed from the marks you already enter

The attainment matrix doesn’t need to be rebuilt from scratch before every NBA visit. AttendMetric computes course and programme outcome attainment straight from assessment marks and course-exit surveys — recomputed live as the data changes.

The usual way

A spreadsheet marathon every accreditation cycle

The matrix is rebuilt every cycle

Marks are re-keyed from question papers, internal tests and a dozen faculty spreadsheets into one attainment sheet, from scratch, right before the visit.

Direct and indirect are merged by hand

Assessment scores and course-exit survey results live in different places, so someone has to weight and combine them by hand into a final CO figure.

Errors surface during the audit

A wrong threshold, a mis-mapped CO or a course left out is found by the committee, not before, because nothing checked the numbers as they were entered.

How it’s calculated

From a mark entered in class to a PO figure

01

Professors enter marks per course outcome

Marks are recorded against the CO they assess, for the divisions a professor teaches, with CSV import for a full class. Missing-marks alerts flag gaps early.

02

Direct attainment is computed from the marks

As scores come in, each CO’s direct attainment is calculated against your thresholds, with no separate sheet and no re-entry of marks at the end of term.

03

Course-exit surveys feed indirect attainment

Students rate each course through the built-in exit survey. Those responses flow into the same attainment engine as the indirect component, with no separate form.

04

COs roll up to POs through your mapping

Course outcomes aggregate into programme outcome attainment through your CO–PO mapping, so the PO picture updates whenever the underlying marks do.

Who touches what

Faculty enter marks. Everyone else gets outputs.

For professors

A dashboard per course showing missing-marks alerts, how many students answered the exit survey, and the computed CO attainment for every class they teach.

For IT-Admins

CO and PO attainment rolled up across courses and divisions, with a criterion-tagged evidence index alongside, so what an NBA committee asks for stays current.

For the system

Every figure is recomputed from the source marks and surveys. Change a mark and direct attainment, CO and PO all move with it, with no stale copy to reconcile.

Questions

Outcome attainment, answered

How is CO/PO attainment calculated?

Direct attainment comes from the marks professors enter against each course outcome, measured against your thresholds. Indirect attainment comes from the built-in exit survey. Both feed one engine, and COs roll up to POs through your mapping.

Do professors need a new way of entering marks?

They enter marks against the outcome each assessment measures, for the divisions they teach, with CSV import for a full class. The attainment maths happens afterwards, so faculty never build or touch an attainment sheet.

Does this replace our NBA self-assessment report?

It replaces the spreadsheet marathon behind the attainment sections: the CO/PO matrix, the direct and indirect split, and the roll-up. You still assemble the SAR, but the attainment evidence in it is generated, not hand-built.

What about NAAC and NIRF?

The same data supports both. NAAC evidence is uploaded and tagged to a criterion as events happen, and NIRF metrics like faculty–student ratio and PhD-qualified percentage are computed live from your institution’s records.
